Who are our real real estate users?

User metrics for August seem largely similar to July, with noticeable declines in some metrics (fewer active users, fewer actions per user, fewer buildings created). July had seen some big drops, so it’s not great news that things mostly held, though of course a summer lull would be in full effect in August if that is in fact what’s happening. (A small caveat that the data is a few days short since I’m running on the 28th in advance of my vacation next week).

So when the answers you’re getting are not very interesting, try a different question: who are our users anyway? To start, we zoomed out to look at which customer types and teams have added buildings each quarter since 2024:

Real estate companies (owners, managers) are the key actors in building decarbonization. We looked at the top real estate teams adding buildings in Momentum. (See list in the comments). These mostly don’t appear to be groups we targeted with outreach - they just registered and starting using Momentum and include some big owners and managers: A&E Real Estate, Avalon Bay, Kaled Management (Vornado, Akam are not far behind). We’re going to reach out to some of these groups as part of a customer discovery effort to learn more about their needs, and what they’ve been doing in Momentum. Don’t touch that dial!
