Set up your Android work profile
Cadence uses Android Enterprise work profiles through Fleet. Work apps and data live in a separate profile, identified by a briefcase badge. Your personal apps, account, and data stay in the personal profile. See Google’s work-profile overview.
For computers, use Windows, Linux, and macOS setup. For Apple phones, use iPhone and iPad setup.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”Use Android 13 or later, the minimum in Cadence’s current configuration, with Google Play services and support for Android Enterprise work profiles. Keep your phone online and install available updates. Manufacturer settings labels vary.
Ask IT for Cadence’s Android enrollment link or QR code. Android enrollment uses this link rather than a downloadable Cadence installer. If another employer or management tool already owns a work profile on your phone, coordinate with IT before replacing it: removing that profile deletes its work data.
Enroll your phone
Section titled “Enroll your phone”- Open IT’s enrollment link on your phone, or scan its QR code with your normal camera. Confirm the enrollment page is on
devices.cadence15.com. - Follow the page’s instructions to install or open Android Device Policy, Google’s management app, and create a work profile. Accept the management disclosures after checking the organization details. Keep your personal Google account signed in.
- Set the work-profile PIN when prompted. Cadence’s current profile requires at least six digits and rejects simple repeating or sequential PINs. Follow any additional prompts on the phone.
- Let setup finish. Open the Work tab in your app drawer, or find apps with a briefcase badge. Install the work apps made available in the work profile’s Play Store and sign in with your Cadence account.
- Tell IT your name and phone model so they can confirm enrollment and the applied settings in Fleet.
This personal-device enrollment does not require a factory reset. If a flow asks you to erase the phone or enroll it as company-owned, contact IT for the personal-device link. Fleet documents the enrollment-link flow.
Use the work profile
Section titled “Use the work profile”Use briefcase-marked apps for company email, files, and messages. Installing a work profile does not move existing work data out of personal apps automatically; move your work sign-ins and confirm company files are synchronized before removing the old copies.
Cadence’s configured profiles block copying and sharing from work apps into personal apps, and hide work contacts from personal apps. The work PIN currently expires after 90 days and cannot reuse the previous five PINs. Ten failed work-profile unlock attempts can erase the work profile. Contact IT if you cannot unlock it.
Android lets you pause the work profile, which pauses work apps and notifications; resume it from the Work tab or the Work quick-settings tile when needed. Personal apps continue to operate. Google’s work-profile controls
Set the phone’s screen auto-lock to at most five minutes and keep it updated as required by the BYOD policy. Cadence’s current work-profile configuration does not enforce that device-wide timeout.
Confirm enrollment or get help
Section titled “Confirm enrollment or get help”IT should see your Android host in Fleet and confirm that the password, work-data separation, and minimum-Android-version profiles applied. A password profile awaiting user action usually means you still need to set a compliant work PIN. A profile failing because of the management mode needs an IT configuration fix.
If a work app is missing, ask IT to make it available in managed Google Play. If enrollment fails, send IT the error message, phone model, and Android version. Enrollment links contain credentials; share them privately.
Remove the work profile
Section titled “Remove the work profile”Coordinate with IT before replacing a phone or leaving Cadence. Synchronize work files first. In Android Settings, search for Work profile, then select the option to remove it; IT can also unenroll the phone from Fleet. Removing the profile deletes its work apps, accounts, and local work data while retaining the personal profile. This is separate from a factory reset. Google’s removal instructions
IT: enrollment and current configuration
Section titled “IT: enrollment and current configuration”In Fleet, open Hosts > Add hosts > Android, copy the enrollment link, and share it privately with the employee. Confirm the Android Enterprise integration is connected under Settings > Integrations > MDM. Use the personal work-profile enrollment flow configured for this deployment.
The current JSON profiles and troubleshooting notes are in the Fleet repository’s deploy/fly/profiles/android/. Upload profiles through Controls > OS settings > Configuration profiles. These files require fleetctl gitops for declarative management; do not use a partial full-sync configuration that would prune other settings.
Record the owner, device, last check-in, and profile results in the asset register. Confirm work-to-personal sharing is blocked and the work PIN requirement is satisfied. Inventory and configuration reporting on Android differ from the computer agent’s reports.
