It's all about you
February 13, 2026
This week, we’re shifting focus from the business to you.
Taking care of our team isn’t just something we try to do — it’s something we’re held accountable for. Employee wellbeing is a core pillar of our BCorp certification, which evaluates us on things like how we share healthcare costs, how our salaries compare to living wages across our geographies, and whether we offer retirement benefits (among other measures). We’re proud of that standard, and we want to make sure you’re getting the most out of what’s available to you.
This is a good moment to get (re)acquainted with some key benefits and policies. Unless otherwise noted, these are available to all full-time and part-time eligible employees.
Healthcare — We offer a range of plans through Justworks, including options for vision, dental, and FSA/HSA accounts. Open enrollment happens every October, and your selections stay in place for the full year unless you experience a qualifying life event. Full details are in the handbook.
Retirement — Our retirement plan is administered through Ascensus. We make a 2% non-elective contribution based on your gross salary— meaning you receive it automatically unless you opt out. To access these contributions, you’ll need to set up your Ascensus profile via an invite link - reach out if you have not done so already. You’re also welcome to make additional contributions on your own. Full details are in the handbook.
Support for Worldwide Work — As a fully remote, global company, we want to give you flexibility in where you work. That said, we do have compliance obligations depending on your location, so make sure you’re familiar with our policy here.
Additional Perks — Most perks become available once you’ve completed your onboarding period and include laptop and remote work reimbursements, as well as a coffee shop allowance. Full details on all-remote reimbursements in the handbook.
Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing more information about each of these areas. Any updates or changes will be communicated via Discord and documented in the handbook. In the meantime, take some time to read through the relevant policies — and if anything comes up, don’t hesitate to ask.

- We had a great meeting with NYC MOCEJ about launching NYCA, potentially with a big press event. They really want to highlight Momentum! (JMB)
Any missing highlights? Please share in Discord comments.
Crow’s Nest
Section titled “Crow’s Nest”Looking out for icebergs: What are the risks on the horizon that we’re watching for and navigating around?
François’ List
Section titled “François’ List”- With the NYCA launch coming up, we have two contradictory goals: rushing in a number of new required features, and cleaning-up old tech debt + shoring up security and performance. Even at our current brisk pace, there’s a lot for us to get right in limited time.
Repeats with tweaks:
- Hat-shedding in progress (risky but necessary baton passing): EPA PM momentum -> back-end ; BKB access from momentum -> calc service ; fly / db ops François -> Chuck and Maksym ; new measure implementation human -> Claude
- Balancing short-term / vision Agents are fundamentally a combo of a/ a LLM (largely commoditized, but needs selection and possibly tuning), b/ a prompt (context + generic instruction), c/ tools (access to information and APIs relevant to perform a task), and d/ an architecture (orchestration of the above, evaluations, analytics). Even if we don’t put agents in Momentum right away, we have to make sure that what we build today prepares us for c/ and d/.
Jason’s List
Section titled “Jason’s List”Repeats:
- Improving clarity around our roadmap and prioritization process–I’ve started to meet with a PM coach to help me.
- We may have won some minds, and we’re winning some wallets, but will we win their fingers? Which users will actually use our software instead of just looking for the outputs and expecting consultant-style service?
- What is our moat in a world and industry where data wants to be free, especially when some of our largest customers are city and state agencies?
- Getting a clearer sense of our delivery velocity. I anticipate we’ll need to be more responsive to ad hoc customer feedback this year, and this will help me better plan and prioritize our product needs.
Erika’s List
Section titled “Erika’s List”- Still watching our money until our invoices from our new agreements are paid. Once they are in, we can move forward on our 2026 operating budget and other goals.
- In addition to the team understanding our financial operations, I think it’s time to start updating folks regularly on our HR policies and practices. This would be to make sure they’re clear to all and see if anything needs to change to suit our current team needs or for scale.
